Belgrade 1984
No photos available from our train journey from Istanbul to Budapest. We had to change trains in Belgrade, arriving late in the evening, with the next departure early the following morning. So we unrolled our sleeping bags and camped out in the station—only to be rudely woken in the middle of the night as the cleaners hosed the place down.
We shuffled around the station and eventually found a bench or two to crash on. By morning, we discovered that two rucksacks, brim-full of precious gear (or so the insurance company was told), had disappeared. It meant we travelled light for the rest of the journey home.
