A Day in Kabul Airport

Just a day spent in Kabul airport, waiting for a connecting flight to Delhi. As we approached Kabul, the airport looked like a speck in the desert and hills below. We descended slowly in wide circles, eventually landing beside a burnt-out MiG on the tarmac.
We then disembarked and spent several hours sitting outside a dry, dusty airport building. The reason for the slow, circling descent soon became clear when the next plane approached. It came in from a high altitude, releasing what I assumed were missile-deflecting flares as it descended. Weeks later, while sitting in Kathmandu, I read a story describing how Scud missiles had rocked Kabul airport.Click here to change this text. Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
